23.21% INCREASE IN TICKET CHECKING EARNINGS OF CR

Central Railway has always been persistent in curbing ticketless / unauthorised travel through its massive checking drives. During the month of March 2013 a total of 1.24 lakh cases of ticketless / irregular travel including unbooked luggage have been detected in these drives, as against 1.21 lakh cases detected in March 2012. The amount realised from these cases in March 2013 is Rs.5.63 crore as against Rs.5.09 crore during March 2012, thus showing an increase of 10.61%.

   

A total of 16.59 lakh cases were detected in the current financial year 2012-13 as against 13.89 lakh cases detected in previous financial year. The Amount realised from these cases during 2012-13 is Rs.73.58 crore as against Rs.59.72 crore in 2011-12, thus showing an increase of 23.21%.

In addition to above, 102 cases of transfer of reserved tickets were also detected in the month of March 2013 and an amount of Rs 0.76 lakh realised besides confiscation of tickets worth Rs.0.49 lakh.

Central Railway appeals to the passengers to travel with proper and valid tickets in order to avoid inconvenience.
