Title - Anxiety grips kin of train passengers

Tension prevailed at the Warangal railway station with the relatives of passengers who had boarded the ill-fated Tamil Nadu Express bound for Chennai eagerly flocking the station enquiring about their safety.

Of the 14 passengers who boarded the train on Sunday night, the status of two persons, namely M. Avinash and another one M. Raju, both software engineers was not known immediately.

The railway officials said that of the 14 passengers from Warangal, seven members travelled in coach number S11 and the remaining were on coach number S10.

Confirmed dead

A passenger named D. Shalini who lives in Hyderabad and boarded the train at Warangal was confirmed to be dead. The fate of Avinash, who was said to be working as a software engineer with Cognizant Technologies and Raju, who was working for a Chennai based firm called Indus Technologies, was not known.

Twenty-four-year-old Avinash belongs to Karimabad in Warangal town and Raju aged 27 years belongs to Venkatapuram village of Duggondi mandal in the district. Avinash’s father Gouri Shanker is an assistant registrar in Kakatiya University.

Raju’s father Sambaiah is a farmer. His friend Mahipal has left for Nellore to find about Raju’s status. Likewise, Avinash’s father Gouri Shanker has left for Nellore to find about his son’s status. The railway officials have made arrangements for their journey.

Meanwhile, the other passengers R. Srinivas, Prashanti, Sindhu of Kazipet were said to have suffered injuries. A passenger called Vijay Kumar is said to be safe.
