Title - Bangalore Suburban Rail Corporation – a dream of CM-RM

The city will go the Mumbai way, said Chief minister Siddaramaiah as he allocated a whopping Rs 8,759 crore for Bangalore Suburban Rail Corporation to establish a robust suburban rail system connecting Bangalore, Tumkur and Ramanagaram.

For all those who travel from the outskirts to the city’s business districts, interchanging KSRTC and BMTC buses, this dream will hopefully turn into a reality.

The budget proposes to set up Bangalore Suburban Rail Corporation to implement the project and the detailed project report of Phase 1 will be prepared in this fiscal.

The routes proposed include Ramanagaram-Kengeri, Byappanahalli-Hosur, Tumkur-Yeshvanthpur and Yelahanka-Doddaballapur.

The development went on track only after Mallikarjun Kharge took over as Union Railway Minister. The Kharge-Siddaramaiah duo also sanctioned Rs.200 crore to build 29 railway underbridges and overbridges across the city, wherever the tracks and roads intersect.
