Chandigarh:
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has directed all the regional offices of the Registrar of Companies (RoCs) to check the balance sheets of 105 companies allegedly owned by former Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal’s kin, where some irregularities in the transactions had come to light. It was stated by a senior BJP leader, Dr Kirit Somaiya, former MP, during a press conference here today.Dr Kirit Somaiya and state BJP president Sanjay Tandon today submitted a 120-page report to the Registrar of Companies, Chandigarh, to investigate the bogus companies run by Pawan Kumar Bansal and his family. According to the documents submitted by the BJP leaders to the RoC, these firms had shown loans and advances taken from many firms in their balance sheets for 2012 whereas these have not been no mentioned in the balance sheets of other firms.

Somaiya said that the checking of balance sheet by the MCA would not serve the purpose. It is a very superficial investigation.

He has demanded that the CBI must complete its investigation in the railgate scam within three months. If the CBI fails to do so, the BJP will approach the President of India and the court of law, he added.

The BJP on Tuesday announced a committee, Pawan Kumar Bansal Scam Exposure Committee, which would investigate the alleged scams involving Bansal and the members of his family. Under the joint leadership of the Chandigarh BJP president, Sanjay Tandon, and former city MP Satya Pal Jain, the committee members, Asha Jaswal, Dr Dhirender Tayal, Parmod Bindal, Vishal Puri and Arvind Mittal, will present its report within the next 15 days.

Why the CBI gave clearance to Mahesh Kumar’s name

The BJP leader has also sought an inquiry into the role of the CBI, CVC and the Cabinet Appointment Committee in clearing Mahesh Kumar's name for appointment as a member of the railway board. He alleged that as the CBI had claimed that its was tapping the calls for the past two months, it should not have give clearance for Mahesh Kumar's appointment to the board on April 23.
