Title - Chain snatcher arrested at railway station

A 30-year-old man was nabbed at Nungambakkam railway station here on Monday evening, after he reportedly attempted to snatch the chain of a female passenger.According to Railway Protection Force (RPF) sources, a woman commuter named Jeya Krishnan, a resident of Perungalathur, was commuting by a Chengalpet bound electric multiple unit train. When the train arrived at Nungambakkam railway station at 6.45 pm, a stranger approached the window of the train where the female passenger was seated. Suddenly he  snatched her chain and began to run, the sources said.However, the accused was chased and arrested by an RPF constable and the snatched chain recovered from him.The offender was identified as Srinivasan from Chetti Thottam in Royapuram. “He is a first time offender. An alcoholic, he committed the crime to meet his family expenses,” an official said. The accused was arrested and booked under section 379 of IPC, the sources said.
