Title - Cleanliness is the buzzword for North Eastern Railway

GORAKHPUR: North Eastern Railway administration has launched a drive to ensure cleanliness on railway premises, platforms and running trains. The NER has also deployed On Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) in running trains for the same.

"A team is available in select trains that ensure cleanliness in coaches. To make passengers aware of the service, helpline numbers of railway division concerned along with mobile number of OBHS service provider in prominently displayed in coaches. Stickers describing various works to be undertaken by OBHS cleaning staff are pasted at the end of the coach for the benefit of passengers. Passengers may contact the staff on mobile phone or in person for availability of water in coaches and cleanliness. Coach attendant and TTEs can also be contacted," said CPRO Alok Kumar Singh.

Passengers' feedback is sought on prescribed proforma on the basis of which services being providing under OBHS are regularly monitored by senior railway officers and remedial measures taken.

Acording to CPRO, NER, "20 pairs of Mail/Express trains of Lucknow division of NER have been equipped with OBHS. Similarly, OBHS has also been provided in Chhapra-Durg-Chhapra Express departing from Chhapra station of Varanasi division as well as 15013/15104 Kathgodam-Bhagat Ki Kothi-Kathgodam Express departing from Kathgodam station of Izzatnagar division and 25013/25014 Ramnagar-Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Ramnagar link Express. This facility will soon be made available in 15035/15036 Kathgodam-Delhi-Kathgodam Uttaranchal Express and 25035/25036 Ramnagar-Delhi-Ramnagar Express." Likewise this facility is also available in 26 Mail/Express trains of other railways passing through NER, the CPRO added.
