As many as 125 vehicles lying unclaimed in the parking lots of Delhi Metro stations will soon go up for auction. Senior Delhi Metro officials said during a survey they have found over a hundred vehicles parked on the Metro premises for months with no one to claim them.Vehicles lying unclaimed on the Delhi Metro premises are a major security risk, top Delhi Metro officials said. The Metro network is a sensitive zone owing to a large number of people who choose it to commute. Metro officials say there is a need to monitor their parking lots regularly and report the cases of unclaimed vehicles to the police."Vehicles parked on our premises for months become a vulnerable point for us," said a senior DMRC official. The official said the DMRC wrote to the Delhi Police in June last week, giving them the entire list of vehicles parked in various parking lots. The Metro authorities have also asked the police to examine the list and compare them against their own list of vehicles reportedly lost or involved in any crime case."As soon as we get a clearance from the police, confirming that the vehicles in the list aren't involved in any criminal cases, we will initiate the process of auctioning them," said the official. |
