Title - Dhuri Jakhal railway line blocked for 14 hours

LUDHIANA: Dhuri Jakhal railway line has been blocked for the movement of rail traffic for 14 hours since Thursday afternoon. The railway authorities have blocked this railway line for installing a drainage line between Ludhiana and Gill railway station. It would remain blocked for next 14 hours and the trains moving on this track would remain affected. On this railway line mostly passenger trains between Ludhiana and Jakhal move to and fro.

On Thursday afternoon at around 2.15pm the railway officials started installing this sewerage line covering 5 kms long distance. This work was pending for quite a long time period since railway track was not being blocked. The railway authorities canceled passengers trains during this time frame adding to the woes of the commuters. While confirming the same station superintendent RK Sharma said, "It is basically project of Punjab water supply and sewerage board which is installing sewerage lines in the area but Dhuri line is also falling on this route therefore they asked us to install the same." He further said there is no other route from where they could divert these trains therefore they canceled them.

Meanwhile the commuters faced problems. ""I came to know about cancellation of passenger train for Jakhal only when I reached the city railway station and then I was no other option but to take bus. It was very much problematic for me to manage the things," said Manoj Kumar a commuter.
