The district administration has handed over 26 acres of land at Muttom to the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) for setting up the proposed yard of the KMRL. Ernakulam District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth said that of the total 41 acres of land identified for the purpose, the remaining land will be handed over to the KMRL in the coming days.The Collector said that the land has been acquired after assessing documents and offering compensation to land owners for surrendering the land. “ The cost of one cent of acquired land has been finalised at Rs 1.02 lakh,” Pareeth added.He said that the evaluation of the cost of land that needs to be acquired for the construction of viaducts and stations for the proposed stations of the Kochi Metro rail is in its final phase.“The district-level purchase committee will hold a meeting on April 15 in this regard and we are hopeful of handing over the land soon,” he added.Pareeth said that the government had already given its approval for acquiring land for the Metro Village that will come up at Muttom. “The 4(1) notification for acquiring land for the Metro Village will be issued soon,” he added.The total land that needs to be acquired for metro stations, viaducts and the Muttom yard is 78.89 acres. Out of this, 20.60 acres is government land . |
