Title - DMRC entrusted with submitting report

A district-level meeting chaired by M.K. Muneer, Minister for Panchayats and Social Welfare, here on Saturday to review the progress of the proposed Kozhikode monorail project has entrusted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to submit a land plan report to the government to revise the already prepared plan for the construction of Panniyankara railway overbridge.The plan that was earlier prepared by another government agency will be revised based on the fresh DMRC report in such a way to suit the requirements of the monorail project. It was in November 2009 that a plan for the project was first approved by the government.As per the discussions held with DMRC Chief Advisor E. Sreedharan, the land plan report for the revised plan would be submitted to the government within 20 days. The expenses for preparing the report would be borne by the government.In the discussion, Dr. Muneer pointed out that the State government had already allocated Rs.15 crore for the construction of the Panniyankara railway overbridge. “Similarly, we have allocated Rs.2 crore for the construction of a new overbridge at Thondayad in such a way to suit the monorail project,” he added.

Special meet:The Minister also explained the decision of the State government to hold a special meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on February 19 to discuss the rail development issues of Kozhikode in the presence of senior railway officials and people’s representatives. The concerns of the district could be communicated effectively in that meeting convened by the Chief Minister, he added.
