The commercial branch of the Guntur division organised a customer meet at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office here on Tuesday. It was presided over by DRM N.K. Prasad and attended by senior officials and executives of India Cements, Deccan Cements, Penna Cements, Bhavya Cements, and Jindal Cements from Guntur, Nalgonda, and Kurnool districts.Senior Divisional Commercial Manager M. Syama Sundar Rao welcomed the guests and introduced railway officials to the traders. Addressing the participants, Mr. Prasad said freight earnings contributed to a large portion of the division’s earnings and promised to improve facilities for loading of goods, particularly cement. He reviewed the loading patterns customer-wise and commodity-wise and listed the facilities to be provided at the goods terminals.

Representatives of the cement companies and other businesses thanked the DRM and his officials for giving advance intimation on the supply of rakes and solving their problems.

They sought reduction in freight and demurrage charges, more free time for loading clinker, doing away with weighing of loaded rakes before preparation of railway receipts, and rolling stock of good quality.

In his response, the DRM said facilities would be provided on the basis of earnings generated from the particular units.

Additional DRM Chandrasekhar Rao and others participated.
