Host Andhra Pradesh scored a facile 23-14 victory over Orissa in the pool ‘A’ league fixture of the 41st senior National handball championship for women at V.R. College grounds at Nellore on Sunday.In the other matches, Indian Railways outplayed Pondicherry 31-1 in a pool ‘B’ fixture while Haryana and Punjab defeated Assam (43-6) and Bihar (25-8) in the pool ‘C’ and ‘D’ encounters.
The results: Andhra Pradesh bt Orissa 23-14, Indian Railways bt Pondicherry 31-1. Chhatisgarh bt Himachal Pradesh 35-16, Haryana bt Assam 43-6, Chandigarh bt Jammu and Kashmir 17-6, Punjab bt Bihar 25-8, Uttar Pradesh bt Jharkhand 21-13.
