----ECoR was asked to spell out land required for the Station area

---New coaching complex proposed between Mancheswar and New Bhubaneswar
--Proper road connectivity should be planned for this station, says CGM -East Coast Railway has sought no construction over three-kilometre-long stretch with width of 200 metres which would be connected to satellite railway station – New Bhubaneswar Station – proposed to be developed between Baranga and Mancheswar stations in capital city.According to sources, Chief General Manager of ECoR, in the last coordination meeting, wanted the State government to notify the stretch as ‘transportation zone’ so that no new construction should come up in that area.“This area can later be developed for circulating and other passenger amenities works. Proper road connectivity should be planned for this station,” CGE put forth.Sources said a 100 feet wide road connecting to place where ‘New Bhubaneswar’ station has been proposed has already been mentioned in the master plan of the city. ECoR was asked to spell out land required for the Station area.

The New Bhubaneswar station, for which administrative processes have already been set in motion, would be a nine line station.

ECoR earlier said north-bound trains should originate and terminate at Bhubaneswar and have stoppage at New Bhubaneswar.

However, it has now been mooted some popular south-bound trains such as Konark Express and Prasanthi Express could start from New Bhubaneswar station which would lead to decongestion the existing Bhubaneswar Railway Station.

It was earlier proposed that a ‘World Class Station’ would be developed in the railway section between Barang and Mancheswar.

However, since work on all world class stations throughout Indian Railways was frozen by Railway Board, the plan was shelved.

The ECoR had also proposed a new coaching complex between Mancheswar and New Bhubaneswar. It has already made it clear that the New Bhubaneswar would be only city station in Capital .
