Indore: A major tragedy was averted when a head Ticket collector found a bike filled with petrol in a train . When enquired, it came to light that the bike belongs to a senor railways officer, who was transporting it without emptying petrol tank. On Monday noon, Train No 52966 Ratlam- Mhow was stranded at station for long time due to crossing problem.

During this time, Head TC Prem Shankar received information that someone was transporting a bike in the SLR coach. He rushed to the spot and found the bike in the SLR coach, which was attached with the engine. During inquiry, he came to know that one Asif was taking the bike ( MP 43 MF 4657) in the coach in which 25- 30 passengers were already sitting.

The Head TC immediately called other TCs and also requested the passengers sitting in the coach to get down from the train. Later with the help of other railway employees, he took down the bike from the train and took it into the custody of railways. Taking advantage, Asif stealthily left the spot. When the TC checked the fuel tank of the bike, to his surprise, he found two liters of petrol in it.

In the meantime, the train driver told the Head TC that the bike belongs to Chief Loco Inspector but was registered in the name of Mohammad Akram Ansari. The TC later hand- over the bike to the RPF after making a challan. Monday’s incident was not an isolated one. Such incidents came to light recently when a servant of the Station Manager loaded two LPG cylinders in trains. Taking the matter seriously, Western Railway General Manager Mahesh Kumar warned the parcel officers of sending bikes with petrol in them. Travelling with inflammable articles like petrol, kerosene, LPG cylinders is a crime and if found strict actions will be taken against the guilty.
