Posted by : riteshexpert on Apr 27, 2013 - 08:00:05 AM

Apollo Pharmacy will soon run a 24/7 pharmacy at the MG Road Metro station, thus ending a long-time need for a medical requirement in the famous commercial area. With not a single medical store on the stretch, one has to rush to Residency Road or Infantry Road or Shivaji Nagar in case of any emergency.U A Vasanth Rao, general manager (Finance), told Deccan Herald that “similar stores will be set up all along the Metro line.”The first store will help the people commuting between Mayo Hall and Anil Kumble Circle, the one that will come up a the Trinity Station will cater to the commuters of the other stretch of the Metro. On whether Apollo has won the contract for all the stations on Reach-1 (Baiyappanahalli-MG Road), officials said the decision pertains only to the MG Road station and that work was on to identify pharmacies for other stations.

Underground stations

On the status of the underground stretch, another official said: “Construction of the underground Metro stations on the East-West Corridor — Baiyappanahalli to Mysore Road Terminal (Nayandahalli) — has reached a crucial stage with the contractors having commenced putting up roof-slabs over the station box structure.”

Besides, nearly 90 per cent of the roof-slab work on the City Railway Station is complete, while over 50 per cent of the slab work is ready in the Sir M Visvesvaraya (Central College) and the Vidhana Soudha underground stations.

“The work of putting up a slab work has just commenced in the Cubbon Park underground station,” the Metro official said.

He further said that civil works of these stations, barring the Majestic underground station, are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

After this, the contractors (11) hired for track laying, third-rail laying, architecture and other works will take over, and these works are expected to be completed in six months from then.
