Title - Miraculous escape for railway staff

A team of technicians working in the pit line at Tirunelveli railway junction had a miraculous escape on Friday when the Nellai Express Train dashed against an air-conditioned coach stationed there for maintenance.Sources at junction said the Nellai Express Train, which had reached here from Chennai on Friday morning, was moved to the pit line for regular maintenance works. As an air-conditioned coach was already stationed there, and maintenance was going on, the last coach of the express train dashed against the air-conditioned coach which lost all its wheels in the impact. The mishap also derailed the air-conditioned coach.Investigation revealed that the loco pilot of Nellai Express Train could not get proper instructions from the person standing in the last coach due to ‘signal problems’ in the communication devise.The technicians attending the air-conditioned coach were alerted and they moved to safety in time. — Special Correspondent
