MMTS phase-II works are gaining momentum as the bids for tenders called by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) on April 11 will be opened on May 22. RVNL had invited tenders in three separate packages for works worth Rs. 365 crore.This was disclosed by South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager D.P. Pande, who inspected the MMTS railway services in twin cities on Monday. He inspected the Falaknuma-Secunderabad-Lingampalli MMTS section and Sanathnagar-Moula Ali-Cherlapally section via chord line.Mr. Pande took stock of the present line capacity on the above routes and discussed about the measures to be taken up to enhance the throughput.He monitored MMTS operations and instructed authorities to speed up de-bottlenecking works to run optimal number of trains. Later, Mr. Pande inspected the amenities provided at MMTS stations and directed the officials to expedite works relating to upgrading passenger amenities in the section.

Penalty for littering

He instructed the officials to maintain cleanliness at the stations, besides emphasising on the need to launch special drives to impose penalties on passengers, who dump garbage on the station premises. He directed officials to deploy more security personnel on MMTS trains and at stations. The GM was accompanied by Rakesh Aron, Divisional Railway Manager (Hyderabad Division) S.K.Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager (Secunderabad Division) P. Srinivas, Chief Project Manager, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and others.
