Sambalpur:
On the occasion of the International Railway Level Crossing Awareness Week, NCC cadets of Sambalpur took out a huge bicycle procession moving round the city to crate awareness about how to avert accidents on the unmanned level crossings since this has emerged as a major problem causing untimely deaths to valuable human lives. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Sambalpur Railway Division Ashok Kumar Gupta flagged off the rally from the NCC office in the GM College premises. Collector of Sambalpur Balwant Singh also stressed on the need to spread the message of the rally to the remote parts so that such unfortunate incidents at the level-crossings could be avoided. Ashok Kumar Gupta said, “A moving train is, no doubt, a potential danger. At the same time, the train has got the ‘first right’ to move on track. Hence, common people or vehicles crossing n unmanned level-crossing need to be careful while negotiating it.”  He informed that works are going on in fast pace to convert the unmanned level-crossing to under-bridges or some other alternatives. “Such rallies by NCC cadets will also be held in the villages where unmanned railway level-crossing are there,” informed NCC Group Commander Vikas Goswami.
