Finally, passenger trains would be chugging on the newly laid Salem – Namakkal – Karur broad gauge line from May 27 after the formal inauguration at Salem Railway Junction on Saturday at 10.45 a.m. Trains to Karur from Salem pass through Erode. Once the new service begins, trains can take up the 85-km line thereby saving one hour journey time and fuel consumption. |
