Title - New trains to southern TN from Tambaram soon

Chennai: Soon, a coaching terminal will be set up in Tambaram railway complex, said So­uthern Railway GM Rak­e­sh Mishra, who along with divisional railway manager P.K. Mishra inspected the railway station and staff quarters at Tam­ba­ram on Friday.Speaking to reporters, Rakesh said preliminary works were on to start a co­aching terminal project at Tambaram. “Similarly, we are also in discussion to op­erate new trains to  southern districts from Tam­ba­ram. The final schedule wi­ll be decided very soon,” he added.On Tambaram being converted into third railway te­rminal in Chennai, after Egmore and Central, Ra­kesh said development works were going on at the terminal.“We will soon put an escalator in place at Tambaram railway stati­on. Further, we will also co­nvert platforms 3 and 4 into broad gauge,” he ad­ded.Earlier, while inspecting the staff quarters, Rakesh was flooded with complaints regarding single-phase electricity connection and lack of proper facilities related to drinking water and drainage. “We have heard the grievances of the staff and will try to repair everything before the rainy season,” noted Rakesh.
