MARGAO: Curchorem MLA NileshCabral will lead the people of Curchorem and surrounding areas in staging a 'rail roko' agitation at the Curchorem-Sanvordem railway station on Monday. The Curchorem unit of the BJP also supported the agitation organized to demand a stop for the Vasco-Vailankani express train at Curchorem.

South Goa collector N D Agrawal, speaking to TOI on Sunday, hoped that Cabral would withdraw his agitation in view of the recommendation made by the South Western Railway (SWR) to the railway board to grant a stop for the Vasco-Vailankani train at Curchorem. "The divisional railway manager ( DRM) of the SWR, Hubli, has written to the railway board, and a copy of the letter has also been faxed to the MLA (Cabral). I hope he will withdraw the agitation in view of this development," Agrawal said.

Cabral however appeared unconvinced. "The letter speaks only about the recommendation for a stop at Curchorem. What we want is that the railways should act on our demand and declare a stop for the train at Curchorem."

The Curchorem police have made elaborate arrangements to tackle any law and order problem arising out of the agitation.
