Western Railway (WR) officials have clarified that there was no possibility of any mishap between two trains near Bhayander station on June 29. Said an official, “It was a normal shunting activity. A few empty coaches were being moved by a locomotive from/to yard as per requirement by shunting. One local was stopped for some time to complete the shunting of these empty coaches. It is a routine exercise which is a part of day-to-day working of the railways. It was a safe movement and there was no possibility of any mishap as reported in the media.”
“Since the Bhayander incident was fuelled by several rumours, we want to allay fears and inform our commuters that travelling by our trains is safe and there is nothing to worry,” he said.
