NASHIK: The district administration wants the Nashik Road station to be turned into a terminus and will take up the issue with the railway authorities, a senior official from the district collectorate said."We want Nashik Road station to become a terminus. The issue came up during a meeting with the divisional revenue commissioner that was attended by railway officials," said the official."The railway officials said they had sent a proposal twice to their higher ups, but nothing happened. We then decided to take up the issue with assistance from state government officials, if needed," he said.It was then decided that the issue must be taken up with railway authorities at higher levels, with assistance from state government officials, if need be.There is also a communication gap between the railways and the collectorate over the officials who are to be called for meetings. The local railway authorities said they cannot take decisions such as upgrading passenger amenities and insisted that their officials at the divisional level be called, while the collectorate wanted the railways to depute an official for the talks. |
