The pre-feasibility report on the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC) has been completed and work is on to complete the detailed master plan during the current year, said E. Ahamed, Union Minister of State for External Affairs on Monday.Delivering the valedictory address at the first Japan-India SME Conference, organised by the Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said the execution of the Industrial Corridor would turn Chennai into a central hub for Japanese companies operating in India.While mentioning it was too early to talk about other projects such as high freight rail corridor and bullet train as the pre-feasibility study was completed just a few days back, he said the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor and Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor was making progress.S. B.S. Raghavan, retired Chief Secretary of West Bengal, asked the MSMEs to take charge instead of waiting for the government to take the initiative of improving the bilateral trade between the two nations. “The Japanese are yet to exploit the full potential of Indian economy. If it happens, then our Gross Domestic Product would increase by 1.5 to 2 per cent ,” he said.
