TRICHY: Four staff attached to the Railway Mail Service (RMS), Trichy were placed under suspension for dereliction of duty in connection with the damage of the SSLC exam answer sheets. Meanwhile, Trichy district collector convened a meeting with the officials from education, revenue departments and post office staff on Thursday evening to discuss how to conduct the rest of the SSLC examinations without any problem in the district.Senior superintendent of RMS (in-charge) Raveendran said, "It is true four RMS staff have been suspended few days back in connection with the damage caused to the SSLC answer sheets. But I am not sure of their names. Actually, the suspension took place before I took additional charge of senior superintendent of RMS."It may be recalled that few bundles of answer sheets were sent to the regional centre in Trichy from Chidambaram on March 28 through Rock Fort Express. However, one bundle was found missing. Later, the bundle was found on a railway track near Vriddachalam and the answer papers got damaged. Based on the initial investigation, the postal department have initiated action against four staff for dereliction of duty.

At this juncture, collector Jayashree Muralidharan advised the education, revenue and postal officials on Thursday to ensure flawless conduct of the SSLC exam. She said that the officials concerned should ensure the answer sheets from 143 centres in three educational districts Trichy, Musiri and Lalgudi reached RMS safely.
