Title - Railways staff oppose privatisation

Ludhiana: The Railways employees, led by leaders of various unions, protested against privatisation during a rally at Loco Complex.Addressing the rally, the Northern Railwaymen’s Union (NRMU) divisional secretary, Daljit Singh, slammed the policy of privatisation of Railways and other crucial sectors being pursued by the UPA government.He said 17 public sector companies were being handed over to the corporate sector, and the foreign direct investment to the extent of 49 per cent had been allowed in the pension fund leading to resentment among employees. — OC
