Title - Sanvordem-Curchorem railway station to have parking facility soon

MARGAO: Setting up of parking facilities for two wheeler at the Sanvordem-Curchorem railway station and construction of subways at Shirfod and Kamral are just a few of the several demands that the Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral is pursuing with the South Western Railway on a priority basis.

The demands were also put forth at the meeting Cabral held with S Vishnuvardhan, the senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) of the SWR, Hubli division, earlier this week at Curchorem when protestors had laid siege to the railway station demanding a stop for the Vasco-Vailankanni railway station there.

Speaking to TOI, Cabral said all the demands will be pursued with the SWR by him "one by one."

"As regards the other demands of the railway consumers - restoration of the express train service on the Vasco-Miraj and Vasco-Bijapur routes, resumption of the Vasco-Miraj-Mumbai express trains, I have already held talks with the SWR authorities. The Railways have pointed out that they need land for double tracking of the railway route in the Goa section if it were to start these trains, and have asked the state government to provide them the land. I have suggested to the Railways that the work of double tracking be carried out in sections where land is already available, and that solutions could be worked out for other areas where land acquisition could be an issue," Cabral told TOI.
