Title - Second track for Vasco to Hospet rly route

PANAJI: The foundation stone for the doubling of the railway track from Hospet to Vasco via Londa will be laid on July 13 by the Union minister for railways Mallikarjun Kharge at Londa.
Goa chamber of commerce and industry's director general R S Kamat said that the South Western Railway acceded to GCCI's long-pending demand to double the railway track from Hospet to Vasco via Londa.
Gangaram Morajkar, Grepresentative on the zonal railway user's consultative committee ZRUCC, SWR, Hubli, stated that with the current line capacity, the South Western Railway can run only 12 trains - both freight and passenger trains together. "The capacity cannot be improved without this much-needed step," he said. "This would also help improve the rail traffic to and from the hinterland," he added.
In 2010-11, the Railway Board sanctioned, in-principle, an amount of 2,127 crore for the Hospet-Londha-Tinaighat-Vasco route of 407km. This route will pass through Bellary, Gadak, Dharwad, Belgaum and other parts of North Karnataka.
Work on the first part of the Hospet-Hubli-Londha-Tinaighat route that covers a distance of 245km and costs 928.85 crore will commence from tomorrow.
