Title - Silchar BG line to be delayed

SILCHAR, May 19 – There is no chance of opening the broad gauge railway line from Lumding to Silchar in 2014, although the Railways had assured so earlier.
This information was revealed in a meeting held between the Railways and the Government of Tripura on Friday at Agartala. The divisional railway manager of NF Railway at Lumding, RK Goel expressed his apprehension that the project may not be commissioned by 2014.

When Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar asked the Railways the reason for the delay, the official said the paucity of fund has come in the way of implementing the project at the earliest. An additional amount of Rs 270 crore is required for completion of this project, but no allotment has been made, he added.
