Title - SRM’s medicentre keeps 'central' healthy

More than 400 people have benefited from the 24/7 Free Emergency Medicare Centre at Central Railway Station, within a month of its opening by SRM Institute for Medical Sciences, Vadapalani, and Southern Railway.

Since it was launched on April 15, the centre has treated patients with a wide range of medical needs from asthma, chest pain, high fever with severe headache, back and neck pain, various wounds, injuries, fractures, febrile fits in children, diarrhoea and vomiting.  About 11 patients with different emergency needs were transferred to the hospitals for further medication with the help of our 24-hour free ambulance service following stabilisation.

Commenting on the development, Dr Siddhartha Ghosh, CEO, SRM Institute for Medical Sciences, Vadapalani, said, “Central is a major rail terminus and nearly 3.5 lakh passengers use the station daily. Medical emergencies in an unknown territory are a major public concern and  it is here that SRM Institute for Medical Sciences stepped in. 400 people in a month needing medical attention at the station is an indication that we are meeting a great need.  We will continue to monitor this facility to ensure that we adequately serve the expectations of needy passengers.”
