Title - Tech institute joins hands with Metro

Delhi Technological University and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding to work jointly on projects in the field of design development, research and indigenisation of technology, among others.A DTU officer said with the MoU in place, the DMRC will give the university the task of undertaking consultancy projects.“These projects will be related to design, analysis, development, forecasting, investigation, system integration, embedded systems and other software- or hardware-based solutions,” the officer said.The MoU has been signed with DTU’s electrical and electronics, computer and communication engineering departments. They also plan to take up joint research involving indigenisation of technology, devising cost-effective solutions for operations, planning and design of power networks, storage and standby supplies, voltage regulation and automation.

“In future, DMRC may also institute fellowships for PhD scholars. Joint efforts will also be made to develop skilled technical workforce well-versed in automation, design, development and technological know-how,” the officer added.

Delhi Metro may also give internships to DTU students for summer training.
“DMRC and DTU will start a joint interface committee to implement the MoU. The committee will comprise representatives from both organisations with matching expertise in electrical and electronics engineering.”

DMRC has also joined hands with IIT-Delhi to start a one-year course on Metro technology, which covers all aspects of planning and construction of a Metro rail network.k
