Tension prevailed for a while at Villupuram Railway Junction in the wee hours of today when the Chennai-Karaikal Kamban Express was brought to a suddenhalt following a chain pulling incident soon after it started its journey.

According to railway sources, the chain pulling was done by a passenger travelling in the sleeper class after his 8-year-old son fell down from the upper berth and started crying due to pain.

Apart from the co-passengers, the railway staff, RPF and Government Railway Police Personnel, who were travelling in the same train, rushed to the particular compartment and heaved a sigh of relief only after they knew what happened.

The boy was given first aid by a team of medical staff and allowed the train to go after a stern warning to the passenger who pulled the chain.

Due to this, the train suffered a detention of 10 minutes, the sources added
