Open railway gate, Napoleon urges Minister

The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, D.Napoleon, urged the Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal to take steps for opening the railway gate at Lalapettai in Karur district, which was closed following the construction of a road overbridge. Due to the closure of the railway level crossing people have to take a circuitous route to reach the town.

Mr.Napoleon presented a petition in this regard to Mr.Bansal at New Delhi recently. Mr.Napoleon, representing Perambalur constituency, pleaded for the halting of Guruvayur-Chennai, Chennai-Rameswaram and Mangalore-Chennai express trains at Lalgudi railway station and the recently introduced Tiruchi-Tirunelveli inter-city express at Manapparai station. He also pleaded for an exclusive reservation centre at Lalgudi station.

The railways should also desist from closing the Manthurai railway station near Lalgudi, Mr.Napoleon pleaded in the petition.
