A day after the train fire in one of the coaches of the New Delhi-Chennai Tamil Nadu Express at Nellore Railway station, a forensic team today inspected the ill-fated S 11 bogie and collected samples from it.

About 32 people were burnt to death and 31 others injured in the incident. The identification of 16 of the deceased, out of the 28 bodies removed from the coach, was yet to be established. Four others were charred beyond recognition.

Sources said the relatives of the deceased had also reached the Nellore Hospital to identify their kin.

A release from DGP office said only 12 bodies were identified and handed over to their relativs, and 31 injured were admitted to various hospitals, including private and the government in Nellore district and also at Perumbur Railway hospital in Chennai.

The railway authorities were also making arrangements for DNA test on the unrecognised bodies before handing them over to their relatives.
