Barrackpore : Train service in the main section of the Eastern Railway Sealdah division was disrupted for an hour this morning amidst its skeleton service due to Dol Festival causing further hardships to the commuters.A section of the aggrieved commuters raised blockade at the railway level crossing gate no. 3 alleging inhuman behavior of the railway police and the station staff of the nearby Belgharia station towards a commuter who fell down from a down emu passenger train. It was alleged while a male passenger aged about 35 fell down from the running train and sustained serious injuries, neither GRP nor railway staff took any initiative to remove the injured passenger to the hospital though he was alive. Thus it took a long time to remove him from the track when some locales with the help of the gate man lifted him and sent the injured to nearby Sagar Dutta state general hospital, where he was admitted.GRP officials and the station authorities appeared at the scene when angry commuters raised blockade on the level crossing. Incidentally gate remained open in absence of the gate man who rushed with injured passenger to the hospital.A GRP official said, though injured passenger was removed to the hospital, a section of the commuters raised blockade on the truck causing disruption to the train movement. However, GRP and local police later removed the blockade after an hour of the accident. |
