Mysore: The 19-year-old girl, who was pushed out of a moving train by a group of four youths in Mandya on July 24, is likely to be discharged from hospital on Monday.
The victim (in pic) is undergoing treatment at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS). The girl, Kavya (name changed) will be relocated to the state home for girls in Mandya or Mysore for counselling.
She is physically fit, but the department will undertake counselling before sending Kavya with her grandmother Akkavamma who is claiming her custody, Vimala, deputy director of women and child welfare department, Mandya, told TOI.
According to her, the family is living in a pathetic condition. “She lost her mother a decade ago. Soon after, the girl’s father abandoned them. They were living with their grandmother in a village in T Narasipura taluk till recently,” Vimala said.
MIMS medical superintendent KM Shivakumar said the girl suffered scratches all over her body and had a bad right ankle sprain. She has sustained hairline fracture on right hand thumb.
She is resident of Mysore
The probe by government railway police (GRP)has revealed that Kavya is not a resident of Hubli, but is from Mysore district. GRP DySP Mir Arif Ali said she has a brother, grandmother and uncle at Yachenahalli of Bannur hobli in T Narasipura taluk.
She has an Aadhar card. Sources claimed the girl left her village three months ago and was living in Bangalore and working in a garment factory. She was a regular visitor to her friend’s house at Vidyaranyapuram in Mysore.
