Condoling the death of Tamil Nadu Express fire tragedy victims, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko has demanded a high-level judicial probe to bring out the facts behind the tragic accident that had consumed 32 lives.

Speaking to ‘The Hindu’ over phone, Mr. Vaiko after the fast at Nanguneri on Monday, said that he was shattered by the news that 32 persons were killed in the fire accident in the Chennai-bound Tamil Nadu Express Train.

“How desperately the passengers trapped inside the burning coach would have cried for help?

Their relatives cannot even identify the charred bodies now,” he also said.

While expressing deep grief over the death of 32 passengers, Mr. Vaiko wished the injured a speedy recovery.

When he was informed that the fate of five passengers of Tamil Nadu Express from Tirunelveli district was not still known, the MDMK general secretary, who was on his way to Madurai airport from Nanguneri, could not speak for a couple of minutes.

“To avoid such horrendous accidents at least in future to save precious lives, the Union Railway Ministry should order a comprehensive probe to be done by a high-level judicial officer to bring out all facts associated with this mishap,” Mr. Vaiko said.
