Ludhiana:
The defacement of walls of the railway station continues even after a month since the railway employees’ union polls concluded. The Railways authorities have failed to remove posters pasted by union activists on the walls during the election campaign. Those who won the elections are now busy pasting new posters to thank those who voted for them.A number of such posters showing gratitude towards the voters have appeared on the walls of the railway station, which have worsened the situation. "It is very disappointing to see posters pasted all over the walls of the railway station. Now the election is over. The railway authorities should remove the posters. Sticking of bills and posters must be stopped,” said Aman Malhotra, a passenger from Delhi."The employees and union workers should be asked to pay damages for this defacement. The railway authorities must take action against the guilty for the defacement of public property,” said Kartar Singh, another passenger at the railway station.Meanwhile, the Railways officials refrained from speaking openly on the issue, as they do not want to antagonise the union members. "Pasting of posters was justified during the election campaign in order to publicise the election manifestoes, but now when the elections are over, there is no need to paste more posters just to say thanks,” said a Railways official.
