SURAT: Most of the long-distance trains running on Ahmedabad-Mumbai and Surat-Bhusaval routes will be delayed by 20 minutes starting Saturday for a period of two months following a block on the platform number - 3 due the construction work of CC Apron at Surat railway station.Official sources said that platform 3 will be closed for any operations for the period and some of the trains will be terminated at Udhna railway station in place of Surat. The construction work of CC Apron has been delayed by two years and it has been taken up on war footing after the railway budget 2013-14 was announced.Sources said the Western Railway (WR) has taken a policy decision for its construction on all the tracks of the railway platform in order to resolve the leakages experienced at the railway underbridges at Lambe Hanuman Road and Varachha.A WR spokesperson told TOI, "The construction work will commence on April 6 and completed by June 4, 2013. Some long distance trains will be delayed by 5 to 20 minutes due to the block. Passengers are requested to take note of the above and co-operate with the railway administration." |
