Title - Wrong info displayed, many miss train

The Ernakulam-bound Vanchinad Express from Thiruvananthapuram carried the wrong route flap on its compartments on Wednesday. The train goes to Ernakulam via Kottayam. But the flaps showed the train going to Ernakulam via Alappuzha. As a result, many passengers bound for stations on the Kayamkulam-Kottayam-Ernakulam route did not board the train at Kollam station.

Complaint

Only after the train left the station did they realise the mistake. Several passengers gave a written complaint to Station Master Lakshmiprasad. The station alerted the next halts of the station and the train’s guard.

On checking the flaps at Sasthamcotta, where the train has a halt, the faux pas was confirmed. Contract workers fix the flap after washing the train and by they could have made the mistake, the railway authorities said.

Vanchinad Express, via Kottayam, had a flap which said the train would go via Alappuzha.
