Title - Abandoned box creates bomb scare at station

An abandoned box on the Chennai-Arakonam EMU train caused a bomb scare among commuters at Avadi railway station near here on Thursday morning.

The box remained unattended at the station till a commuter alerted the Railway Protection Force at Chennai Central about the box in the compartment, said a railway police official.

Railway police cordoned off the areas and Railway Protection Force personnel opened the box with the help of the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs.

The box was found to belong to a railway guard who had forgotten to take it. The guard, Rangabashiyam, had lodged a complaint with Chennai Beach Police.
