New Delhi : There was chaos at Old Delhi Railway Station this morning after the route of buses was diverted. The buses now passed through the premises of the railway station ostensibly for better regulation of the traffic. There was a heavy rush of passengers near the main gate as they had no information about the change of bus stops. This change has been made after a proposal was submitted by the Delhi Traffic Police to the Delhi Transport Corporation in consultation with the Northern Railway. An official of the Railway Protection Force S. Kamal said that this has been done for 15 days on trial to regulate the traffic as there is jam on the main road during the peak hours every day. If the shifting is found successful, the plan will continue. As Saturday and Sunday are lean days, the picture will be clear on Monday. The Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police Force and Delhi police are controling the traffic now.ASI Phool Chand of Delhi Traffic Police said that there is some relief today, but the real picture will be clear on week days. Only the buses are diverted to the station premises. Light vehicles are passing through the main road. As today is the first day, the bus drivers are not aware of the change in the route. They insist on going through the old route. The DTC authorities should publicise the plan of the traffic police. Joint Commissioner of Police Satyendra Garg was not available for the comment.

Narender Kumar, who came in the morning from Alipur village, said that passengers waited for buses for half an hour. There was nobody to inform them about the change in the route. All the buses from Outer Delhi and East Delhi have their bus stops on the main road. The authorities should have informed the passengers about the route changethrough newspapers or other media, he said.

Suresh Kumar, who had to go to Seemapuri, waited for 30 minutes in the afternoon at the old bus stand. Then a bus conductor told him that the buses were going from inside the station premises.
