Title - Demand to introduce more trains
Posted by : nikhilndls on Jul 23, 2012 - 12:19:38 PM

Residents of Hospet, along with the members of the Divisional Rail Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC), Hubli, and Station Consultative Committee, have urged G.N. Asthan, General Manager South Central Railway (SCR), to run more passenger trains between Guntakal and Hubli.

They pointed out that in the absence of a day-train between Guntakal and Hubli (between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.), passengers from Bellary, Hospet, Koppal and Gadag were facing hardship. They urged Mr. Asthan to take steps to convert the Hyderabad-Kolhapur-Hyderabad train, which is plying twice a week, into daily service for the benefit of regular passengers.

In the response to the appeal, Mr. Asthan, while stating that shortage of coaches had come in the way of improving train services, however, said that steps would be taken to consider the demands being put forth by general public and members of DRUCC and SCR favourably.

Tejpal Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division, was present.

DRUCC member Y. Yamunesh, K. Mahesh, Anu Singh and others submitted a memorandum seeking fulfilment of their demands.
