Title - Fast locals crawl on CR
Posted by : railgenie on Jul 24, 2012 - 12:00:20 PM

Barely a day after Central Railway (CR) services had begun returning to normalcy after the Kasara tragedy last week, fast trains were disrupted again on Monday. Technical faults have managed to cripple fast train services twice in less than a week.

A Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST)-bound fast local was abruptly halted in its tracks on Monday afternoon while crossing from the fast line to the slow line between Kalyan and Thakurli stations after its pantograph got entangled with the overhead wires which supply power. The cascading effect caused severe service delays on the fast line between CST and Kalyan.

An official statement from the CR said, "The pantograph of BL-16 Badlapur-CST local got entangled with overhead wires while crossing over from Up fast line to the Up slow line between Kalyan-Thakurli at 12.30pm. The problem was rectified at 1.30pm. Due to this incident, up fast, down fast and up slow line sub urban services were affected during this period. Suburban trains between Kalyan-CST were running 25-30 minutes behind schedule as a result of this incident."
