Title - POS Machines on Trains to provide bills of food

With the announcement of compulsory billing on food served on trains, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced use of Point of Sale (POS) machines. To overcome overcharging on food prices served on trains, IRCTC earlier announced that bills must be provided to passengers or else passenger is entitled for free food.

On pilot basis, the first POS machine has been made available on the Bengaluru - New Delhi Karnataka Express. In the next phase, 26 express trains will get morre than 100 POS machines. All these POS machines are introduced under Railway's new 'No bill, no payment' policy.

To monitor catering services, IRCTC is also deploying officials on trains. These officials will take feedback from passengers on Tablets provided by Indian Railways.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, has reportedly asked Indian Railways to make sure that the no bill, free food  policy is put in place by March 31.
