Title - woman delivers on railway station

New Delhi: As a crowd watched on, a 30-year-old woman went into labour at a platform in Old Delhi railway station and delivered a baby in the open half-hour later without any medical help — exposing the unpreparedness of the railways in dealing with such emergencies even in the capital.
When a heavily pregnant Kamlesh reached the railway station around 2.30pm on Friday to go to her inlaws’ place in Uttar Pradesh, little did she know that platform number 13 would become her delivery room and she would end up giving birth in full public view.
The doctors at the hospital said that it was a premature delivery as Kamlesh was eight-and-a-half months pregnant.
Kamlesh was found to be anemic but is out of danger. The condition of the baby too is stable but she is “sick and not healthy” and has been kept under observation. Due to profuse bleeding and lack of proper medical attention, Kamlesh needs to be kept under observation for a few days.
