Mumbai:The Central Railway (CR) will be refurbishing the interiors of the 100-year-old Punjab Mail, a popular train that covers the 1,930 km between CST and Ferozepur Cantonment in 34 hours. “It will be a complete revamp, and amenities will be increased in view of the centennial celebrations,” CR spokesperson A K Jain said.
The Punjab Mail, known as ‘Punjab Limited’ during its inaugural run on June 1, 1912, will now have automatic fragrance dispensers in AC compartments, clocks in first-class coaches, floor mats and collapsible bottle holders, said an official. There will be dustbins in AC coaches and disposable commode covers for western toilets.
All interior lights will be CFL. Night-glow berth indicators and reflective coach indicators are part of the plan.
