Title - Facelift for 100-yr-old Punjab Mail

MUMBAI: The Central Railway (CR) will be refurbishing the interiors of the 100-year-old Mumbai-Ferozepur Punjab Mail, a popular train that covers the 1,930 km between CST and Ferozepur Cantonment in 34 hours. "It will be a complete revamp of interiors, and passenger amenities will be increased in view of the centennial celebrations," CR spokesperson A K Jain said.

The Punjab Mail, known as 'Punjab Limited' during its inaugural run on June 1, 1912, will now have automatic fragrance dispensers and scenic photo-frames on walls in AC compartments, clocks in first-class coaches, floor mats and collapsible bottle holders, said an official. There will be dustbins in AC coaches and disposable commode covers for western toilets.

All interior lights will be high-power CFL. Night-glow berth indicators and reflective coach indicators are part of the plan.

Makeover of Punjab Mail

Some of the new features :

* Automatic Fragrance Dispensers in AC coaches.

* Clocks in first class and scenic wall photo-frames in the AC compartments

* Reflective berth/coach indicators in AC/ Non-AC coaches.

* Duro-turf mats in aisle of AC coaches, hollow rubber mats in the gangway

* Mobile charging points and special pouches to keep your mobilephone

* Normal nylon bottle holders will be replaced by collapsible bottle holders

* Toothpaste/ brush stand will be provided in all AC coaches

* Detailed Time Table of train in AC & Non- AC coaches.

* All lights will be replaced by high power CFL in the interiors and near wash basin

* Disposable Commode Covers for western type toilets.
