Title - Government approves ROB to ease traffic congestion in Patna

Patna: The Bihar government on Tuesday approved another Road Over Bridge (ROB) project to ease vehicular traffic congestion in the state capital.

The proposed ROB will be constructed between Mithapur and Exhibition Road arm of the Chiraiyatand bridge and upto Gandhi Maidan in the city to ease traffic congestion near the railway junction and surrounding areas, the Public Relations Department (PRD) Secretary Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters.

The ROB will be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 167.85 crores, he said. Among the 15-point agenda, the state government sanctioned Rs 29.75 crores under the Department of International Development (DFID)-run Swasth project for setting up solar energy-based pumps for supply of potable water through 100 mini pipes to scheduled-caste-dominated villages and habitats in Manpur, Bodh Gaya, Town and Dobhi blocks in Bihar's Gaya district, Mehrotra said.      In order to provide infrastructure to the teachers' training colleges in Bihar, the state government santioned Rs 150 crores for construction of buildings for 15 primary school teachers training college at the cost of Rs 10 crore per building, the PRD Secretary said.

Similar, it approved another Rs 61.01 crores for construction of buildings at 10 district education and training institutes and related infrastructure for teachers' training, he said.

The state government also approved the rules related to Bihar Properties Tax Board, 2013 and proposal for the Bihar Municipality Ward Committee (community participation), 2013 aimed at augmenting revenue and taxes from immovable and commercial properties, Mehrotra said.
