FORBESGANJ: Customs sleuths confiscated contraband heroin weighing over 3.5 kg worth over Rs 20 crore from the toilet of a general compartment of New Delhi-bound Seemanchal Express between Forbesganj and Purnia junctions under Katihar division of North-east Frontier Railways (NF Rlys) on Thursday night. The customs sleuths also seized international currency including 1,000 Frank, 300 Riyals and Sudanese currency, besides huge quantities of ganja and bhang, customs officials said.Assistant commissioner (AC), customs, Jyotiraditya, on Friday that on a tip-off customs sleuths led by inspector Chunchun Singh made a thorough search of the general compartments of running Jogbani-New Delhi Seemanchal Express. They finally located the narcotics like heroin, ganja and international currencies neatly stacked inside the walls of the toilet in a general compartment. AC Jyortiraditya said that no one was, however, arrested in this connection. The modus operandi of the traffickers has remained unchanged. Narcotics and foreign currencies were apparently stacked inside the wall of the toilet in a general compartment of Seemanchal Express at Jogbani on Bihar-Nepal border. The train shuttles between Jogbani and Delhi daily. The narcotics and foreign currencies, in all probability, were sneaked into Bihar side from Nepal, sources said. |
